Information concerning the 6th issue of the "Totalitarian and 20th Century Studies" yearbook
The editors of the “Totalitarian and 20th Century Studies” yearbook invite you to submit articles in Polish or English. The deadline for applications is 31 July 2022.
In East-Central Europe, the experience of totalitarianism focused on the entire spectrum of political, social and economic life. Such multifacetedness has perforce led to the articulation of a broad assortment of research questions that ultimately help us better understand and more comprehensively present the historical processes shaping this part of Europe. The field of enquiry thus developed lay at the heart of the scholarly analyses undertaken at the Pilecki Institute, the objective of which was to trace each given problem both on the macro and the micro scale, and also through the use of interdisciplinary research tools. Fundamentally, our intention is to ensure that texts sent in for publication in the upcoming volume of our journal address themselves to the following topics:
- The history of the Polish intelligentsia and the fates of individual representatives of this social group during the Second World War and in the period of the Polish People’s Republic,
- Economic policies implemented by the German and Soviet occupiers in the Polish lands,
- Settlement of the crimes committed in East-Central Europe during the Second World War,
- The practice of government and methods of exercising control over civilian populations applied by totalitarian systems in conquered territories,
- The approach taken by totalitarian polities towards national minorities,
- Social engineering as a tool of totalitarian power,
- The historiography concerning the problems outlined above – state of research, methods of presentation, research postulates.
The editorial board of the “Totalitarian and 20th Century Studies” yearbook invites authors to send in articles, in Polish or English, touching upon these areas of research. Each text should be accompanied by an abstract outlining the topic of the article and presenting its bibliography, and also containing five keywords and a short biographical note on the author. All four elements – the articles, abstracts, bibliographical notes and bibliographies – should satisfy the requirements of the instruction set forward on our website.
Articles may be submitted by 31 July 2022. The publication of volume VI has been planned for the 4th quarter of 2022.
The articles shall be reviewed and, upon qualification for inclusion in the journal, translated into English or Polish by the translators of the Pilecki Institute. Texts may contain no more than 80,000 characters with spaces (together with footnotes).
Texts should be sent to the following address: redakcja@instytutpileckiego.pl
